Gwinnett County, Georgia — Authorities are investigating a shocking case after a man was kidnapped, shot multiple times, and left for dead in a church parking lot in Gwinnett County.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call early Sunday morning after a passerby discovered the victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot of a local church. Investigators confirmed the man had been shot at least 17 times. Despite the severity of his injuries, he was still alive when found and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Detectives say the victim was forcibly taken from another location before being driven to the church grounds, where the gunmen opened fire and abandoned him. Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity pending notification of his family.
“This was an extremely violent attack,” a Gwinnett County Police spokesperson said. “The level of gunfire suggests the shooters intended to make sure he did not survive.”
Neighbors and church members expressed shock, noting that the area is usually quiet. One resident said, “It’s frightening to think something so brutal could happen here. This is supposed to be a safe community.”
Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and canvassing the area for witnesses. At this time, no suspects have been identified, and investigators have not revealed a possible motive.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Gwinnett County Police detectives or Crime Stoppers Atlanta. A reward may be offered for tips leading to an arrest.
